Hi – i am trying to switch my E10 supply from Together Energy to another supplier. After no news for qa few weeks i called the ‘new’ supplier who told me the switch had been blocked, and the reason could be due to related MPANs. I know an MPAN is essentially your unique property supply reference but can anyone tell me what they me by related MPAN’s and why this would block a switch ? I did not happen when i switched from n-power to Together Energy a year ago….. Eddy
Hi Eddy. Together energy aren’t known for their professionalism and they have the opportunity to block someone leaving. It isn’t legal but it does happen. In fact Iresa power were absolutely hammered by OFGEM and have now ceased trading for doing exactly that. If I was you I would but in a complaint to together energy to resolve. Failing that contact OFGEM. The MPAN stuff is nonsense there are no reasons why together can legally block a switch.
