15th July 2018 at 8:02 am #2188timromanrennieParticipantHi Liam. Thanks for that info youve saved me a headache. I am on a super cheap E10 tariff with our power roughly 13p peak 8p off peak an 28 S/Charge. However it’s about to run out in September so looking around just now. Together energy looked like it could be a winner for me but I have been stung with cheap prices and bad service before and it was horrible, overcharged and can’t get through etc etc. I have a smart meter that our power put in and TBC they’ve been good until now, with it being based in Scotland and me being Scottish living in Scotland I couldn’t complain. But I’m looking for a supplier that offers a little more. Maybe even an online account. What’s you experience with Tonik? Do you have a smart meter/do they off this service and can you access your account online? Oh do they offer fixed rate at all? Thanks loads.
15th July 2018 at 9:48 pm #2189LiamParticipantHi Tim
In answer to your specific questions in your email dated 15th July 2018, I am in the process of changing over my electricity account from the awful “Together Energy” to “Tonik Energy”. I have just received a request from “Tonik Energy” for my opening meter readings which I was able to record very easily online on my new customer account which they describe as “Tonik Space” account. I received a very quick response from “Tonik Energy” to confirm they had received my opening meter readings. It is great to be able to access my account online with “Tonik Energy”. I do not have a smart meter and am not particularly interested in having one owing to adverse criticism I read in the “Which” consumer magazine. I understand that “Tonik Energy” do offer smart meters. I have also signed up for a fixed rate deal called “Positively Green V20”.It is still very early days to give a fact based opinion of “Tonik Energy” but so far, so good.My experience of the most abysmally poor customer service with “Together Energy” has left a very bitter taste and I remain cautious in my approach.I will be relieved to finally get rid of the truly dreadful “Together Energy” who are the worst utility company I have ever had the misfortune to have any dealings with.In my experience “Scottish Power” also provide a very poor service and I will be very circumspect in future before placing my business with any Scottish utility company.A case of “twice bitten, three times shy”, as it were. I hope you find this information useful and I wish you well.I note that nobody else is contributing to the forum and I was wondering where has everybody else gone ? I think we would all be in trouble were it not for all the hard work and dedication of Mark in keeping this website going. Liam
16th July 2018 at 10:41 am #2190timromanrennieParticipantThank you for the prompt reply Liam. If you could update your experience with Tonik I would be very much grateful. I came across this site in September 2017, we moved into a new build house with electric panel heating and an economy 10 meter. I was absolutely baffled as to why E10 isn’t on comparison websites, as I’d never had an E10 meter before. Fortunately my distrust of the big 6 for years has made me proactive about researching types of meters and best deals etc. I absolutely refuse to use the big 6 charlatans, therefore came across this amazing site. So a big thank you to Mark and all his hard work. I do look forward to your updates on Tonik and I may add something about Our Power and my experience also, it may be useful to someone.
26th July 2018 at 1:35 pm #2193MikeyPParticipantTelephoned Tonik. Do support E10 on their E7 rates, but only for 7 hours

I move too fast31st December 2019 at 3:40 pm #2844MichaelParticipantYou would need to contact tonik for prices, as a small supplier they may not be able to offer a e10 meter installation and if they do it’s likely to be chargeable.
19th January 2020 at 10:29 am #2869Ianb123mossieParticipantBEWARE
Be careful joining Tonik energy they are definately not what they used to be and their 72 hour contact promise has gone out of the window – their stated charges are not right and they ignore anything you say with trumped up explanations that are directly out a ‘fairy tale’ yes their Staff are pleasant if you ever get to talk to them but their MD is elusive and their reactions are really poor – do not transfer unless you have cast iron signed in writing guarantees about prices and service otherwise they will hike your monthly charges to the hilt – they do not chase money but that is a bad thing as they build debt fast so trying to get away can be costly
Buyer beware with this company that appears to be failing like all the others that has gone down the pan
21st January 2020 at 3:20 pm #2872Ianb123mossieParticipantTonik Energy
This company may need leaving alone for the time being until they sort themselves out – tariffs are all over the place – emails never answered irrespective of 72 hours being notified that they will reply they never do – they do not do economy 10 – and if you think your meter is faulty they ignore any requests to check – when you ask for smart meters they ignore you presumably with fingers in their ears whilst saying ‘la la la la’ in effect nothing like what the brochures said and nothing like the ‘come over to Tonik sales pitch.
Really sad as this must be a recent issue oh’ forgot overnight increase of monthly dd from £140 to massive £260 a month which is incredible – not forgetting my meter readings are transversed and they probably owe me money ‘incredible’
Avoid
